Book Clinic Activity conducted during library period of class-5th students on 3rd June 2026. Here are Some Glimpses of the Activity:
Book Clinic is a highly engaging, hands-on school activity where students act as "doctors" to repair damaged books and learn essential book-care habits. It promotes responsibility, respect for school property, and life skills in an imaginative way.
Setting Up a Book ClinicDesignate a Station:
Set up a specific corner of the library or classroom as the "Book Hospital" or "Book Clinic".
Equip the Doctors: Provide supplies like clear tape, glue sticks, scissors, sturdy paper, erasers, and bookmarks.
Assign Roles: Have students wear makeshift doctor badges or stethoscopes to take on the persona of a Book Doctor.
Engaging Book-Care ActivitiesThe Triage Desk:
Students inspect books for "illnesses" (torn pages, folded corners, smudges) and write a "prescription" (e.g., needs page repair, needs cleaning).
The Surgery Ward: Under supervision, students use tape to mend tears, erase stray pencil marks, and reinforce loose bindings.
The Wellness Check: Have students evaluate their own personal reading books using a "Book Health Check" checklist to ensure they aren't eating or drinking near them.
Bookmark Making: Provide paper and art supplies so students can create their own bookmarks, preventing the habit of bending corners (dog-earing).
To successfully implement this in your specific classroom or library, let's customize the approach.
